When an user uploads a new dataset to ODP, he/she will be the the owner of that particular dataset. By default, the dataset will be in private state and only dataset owner will have access to it. Dataset owner can decide whether to make dataset public or share it to selected users.  

Note: For disseminating dataset to IMF, dataset must be shared as 'Public'. IMF will retrieve data from ODP by using SDMX


Dataset can be shared either by Dataset owner or User who has full control to a dataset.

  1. To share a dataset, locate the dataset by browsing thru data catalog  and click on sharing option in menu bar.
    • Lock icon --> Private.
    • Globe icon --> Public.
    • People icon–>Shared to others


 

 

2. By selecting 'Sharing options' it allows to share dataset by two possible way.

    •  Sharing dataset to people by email ids 
    • Sharing dataset to all users within ODP.

Note: Click "Notify People "option in case if you want people to get notification by email. 










Sharing dataset to people by email ids 

  1. To share dataset to others by email, use the option Invite people via e-mail like shown below.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Enter email address of people under People to add (shown below). You may enter multiple email ids separated by comma. Then, select access level for the users (Read/Edit/Full Control) and then click 'Add'.

     Note: Select 'Notify People' check box, in case if you want to intimate users by email about this sharing. If 'Notify people' is selected, an email will be sent to users with dataset & sharing information.














Sharing dataset to others within ODP

In case, if a dataset needs to be shared for all users within ODP with same access level, 

    • select check box of 'Anyone from community...'
    • select desired access level from the drop down (View/Modify/Full Control)

Dataset view & options by different access level of sharing

  Based on the access level provided at the time of sharing, users can see different set of menu within that particular dataset. Below screen shot will give an idea of what users sees with different access level.

Read (or View) access level 
User with read access can only view the dataset. No modifications can be made to the original data. But they can build dashboard using the dataset.




















Edit (or Modify) access level
Users with Edit access level can make changes to a dataset. They can add/modify more data to an dataset. They can build dashboard using the dataset. But, they cannot share the dataset to others. 




























Full Control access level
Users with full control can do below listed action on dataset and screen may look like below

      • Add/modify dataset with more data.
      • Share dataset to others.
      • Make dataset to Public/Private.
      • Edit/modify dataset metadata.
      • Delete dataset.
